GBV Case Manager
Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified GBV Case Manager.
About the job
The GBV Case Manager is responsible for providing comprehensive case management services to GBV survivors in alignment with global standards and survivor-centered approaches. The role involves coordinating multi-sectoral support (psychosocial, medical, and legal), ensuring ethical case management, and strengthening referral pathways within the World Bank-funded Somalia Education for Human Capital Development Project (SEHCD). This includes Banadir region, Southwest State, Hirshabelle State, Galmudug State, Puntland, and Jubaland State.
This role is contingent upon the successful securing of funding for the project.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct intake assessments and provide case management services for survivors, ensuring confidentiality, safety, and dignity.
- Ensure ethical documentation, data protection, and secure storage of case files in compliance with international GBV case management guidelines.
- Develop and implement individual case action plans based on survivors’ needs and preferences, ensuring access to psychosocial, medical, and legal services.
- Maintain and strengthen referral pathways, collaborating with psychosocial support experts, legal aid providers, and healthcare specialists.
- Provide training and capacity building for community focal points, teachers, and local authorities on GBV risk mitigation, response protocols, and survivor-centered approaches.
- Facilitate awareness-raising sessions for communities on GBV risks, reporting mechanisms, and available survivor services.
- Support the implementation of the project’s Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM), ensuring that GBV-related complaints are handled ethically and confidentially.
- Conduct risk assessments and community mapping to identify GBV risk factors and service gaps in project locations.
- Work closely with the World Bank Project Manager Unit’s GBV Specialist, protection teams, and humanitarian actors to ensure a coordinated response to GBV cases.
- Monitor and evaluate case management activities, providing regular reports on trends, challenges, and gaps in service provision.
- Advocate for safe spaces and survivor-friendly environments, ensuring women and girls have access to confidential and secure reporting mechanisms
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have: -
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in GBV case management and survivor support.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Health Science, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Additional training in GBV case management, trauma counseling, or protection-related programming is desirable.
- Strong understanding of GBV guiding principles, trauma-informed care, and survivor-centered approaches.
- Experience working in humanitarian settings, development projects, or emergency response with a focus on gender-based violence and protection.
- Knowledge of Somali legal frameworks, human rights standards, and best practices in GBV response.
- Experience facilitating community-based GBV interventions, training service providers, and conducting awareness campaigns.
- Familiarity with grievance redress mechanisms (GRM) and international GBV case management protocols.
- Strong ability to liaise with medical, psychosocial, and legal professionals to ensure holistic support for survivors.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for employees on national contract.
